Rat Extermination Tips

There are almost 35 diseases transmitted by the rats. These diseases can affect you and your pets. These diseases can be transmitted by rat bites, direct contact with rat feces, accidentally drinking rat contaminated water, saliva, or hair. Taking breath at the place that is contaminated with rat urine or feces can also transfer these health issues.

Traps
Traps are an easy and inexpensive method to deal with rats. You can place traps for long periods. But you have to inspect these traps regularly. You should place traps at the places where you have seen rats, or you have doubt that rats are living there. Keep these traps away from the reach of kids and pets. Here are a few traps commonly used

Snap Traps
These are the least expensive plastic or wooden traps used to kill the rats. While going to place snap traps, you should place large traps to kill the traps as small traps are used for killing the mouse. They will not work against rats.

Live Traps
Using live traps is the humane way to deal with rats; you can put any food or peanut butter inside the trap and keep it near the hole of the rat. Rats will go inside to eat food, but there will be no way to go out. You should regularly inspect these traps, and if you find a rat in it you can kill it or release it at any other place away from your house.

Glue traps
Glue traps are not a too effective way against rats. Once the body of rats is stuck due to glue, it cannot move. But big rats can drag themselves and some they drag the glue traps with them.

Poisoning the rats
There is a large variety of poison available in the market that can easily kill the rats; the best thing is that these poisons are specially made for killing rats. Rat poison works slowly and is very painful. Sometimes rat poison is not effective, and it does not give permanent relief. This is a horrible way.

Some alternative ways
If you don’t want to use poison and traps to kill the rats, we also have some alternative ways for you to deal with rats.

  • Keep a cat as a pet can help you as cats love to hunt rats. If there is a cat in your house, rats will never choose that place, or you can spray the cat’s urine around the affected areas. It will also work.
  • The pungent smell of ammonia can deter rats; you can sprinkle ammonia near the holes of rats. It may kill rats sometimes.
  • Rats can’t stand in the smell of pepper. Pepper cause issue for rats to breathe. Mix pepper in the water and spray it near their holes or spread it inside their holes.
  • Sharp sounds can kill rats instantly put speakers near holes. Their ears will start bleeding, and they will die.
